Google profile · Reviews · Local search

When someone in your suburb searches for what you do, be the one they call.

Dropped Pin runs your Google presence for independent Auckland trades and clinics. Done for you, done properly, measured every 90 days.

Free. Specific to your business. Written by a person. No obligation.

Illustration of a map search for "electrician near me". Three competitors with 186, 113 and 64 reviews fill the top results. Your business, rated 5.0 from 12 reviews, only appears after "More places".

Illustration. Same quality of work, a fraction of the visibility.

Good businesses, invisible at the moment it matters.

Most people now choose a local business the same way. They search, look at the map results, compare the star rating and the number of reviews, and call one of the first few. If you're not there, or you're there with nine old reviews next to someone with two hundred, you don't get the call. You never find out it happened.

From Auckland Google profiles we checked in late August 2026:

  • 19

reviews for a painting business that's been trading for more than 25 years. A competitor nearby has 113.

  • 9

reviews for a dental practice open for five decades. It doesn't appear in the map results for its own suburb.

  • 5 yrs

since the last new review for a garage-door business whose owner used to reply to every single one.

None of them are bad businesses. Their Google presence just stopped being looked after, and Google moved on.

We run it, so you don't have to.

Three things, done properly, every month.

Fix the profile

Categories, services, hours, photos, description, links. Everything Google uses to decide whether to show you. Most profiles we check are half-finished.

Get reviews the right way

A simple system that asks every customer after the job or appointment, on the channel you already use. No gating, filtering, incentives or scripts. They break Google's rules and the Fair Trading Act, and honest reviews are the ones that convince people.

Follow through

Every review answered. A post every week so the profile looks alive. A dated report so you can see exactly what changed.

Built for two kinds of business.

Trades & home services

Good at the work. Quieter phone than there should be.

Builders, electricians, plumbers, painters, roofers, landscapers, heat pump installers, glaziers and the like. Owner-run, a handful of staff, years of happy customers. For most trades, one extra job a month can cover what this costs.

Private-pay clinics

Care that deserves to be found.

Dental, skin and aesthetics, physio, chiro, osteo and podiatry. Independent practices with one to four practitioners. Review replies are written with patient privacy and New Zealand's health advertising rules in mind: we never confirm someone is a patient, and never discuss their care in public.

Probably not a fit: franchises and chains with their own marketing team, practices that run mainly on ACC or referrals, and businesses whose rating reflects a service problem rather than a visibility one. The free check will tell you which side of that line you're on.

From "let's have a look" to a report you can check.

  1. Free Google Check

Tell us your business name. Within two working days you get a short written check: what's wrong with your profile, who you're up against in your suburb, and what we'd fix first. No call required.

  2. Day 0

If you go ahead, we record where everything stands: reviews, rating, calls, direction requests, where you show up. Nobody has to guess later.

  3. 90 days of work

Profile fixed in the first fortnight. Review system live in the first month. Replies and posts every week after that.

  4. Day 90

A before-and-after report and a straight conversation: keep going, step up to growing your local search visibility, or stop. No lock-in either way.

Priced like a service, not a subscription.

You see the price before you talk to anyone. Full detail is on the services and pricing page.

Local Growth Plan

Once the Sprint shows there's more to gain.

From $850 / month

3-month minimum, then month to month

  • Everything in the Sprint, ongoing
  • Local search improvements to your website
  • Service and suburb pages, written from your real services
  • Listing consistency across directories
  • Monthly report and a 20-minute call
What's involved

Founding clients. We're new. The first two businesses to sign a Sprint pay $197 a month in exchange for letting us publish their Day-90 results, with your say on the wording. We'll tell you plainly if those two spots are gone.

All prices exclude GST.

What you're actually paying for.

  • A person, not an app

Review-request apps start at about US$75 a month, and plenty of owners never finish setting it up. We set it up, run it, and fix the profile the app can't touch.

  • Compliance built in

Google rewrote its review rules in April 2026, and the Commerce Commission is fining businesses over filtered reviews. Our review system was designed against both.

  • Evidence before pitch

Every conversation starts with a free check of your actual profile. If there's nothing worth fixing, we'll say so.

  • Fixed scope, no lock-in

Ninety days, a report, a decision. A monthly plan only when the numbers justify one.

  • Both sides of the counter

Seb has a health-sciences background, is studying chiropractic, and has been through the Google profiles of 80 Auckland businesses, from dental practices to garage-door repairers.

We don't have case studies yet. Here's what we've got instead.

Dropped Pin started in September 2026. Rather than dress that up: the free Google Check is the proof. It's the same analysis we'd do in your first week, and you keep it whether you hire us or not.

The first two Sprint clients get founding pricing, and their Day-90 numbers will be published here, good or bad.

More about Seb

Questions people ask before they get in touch.

What's in the free Google Check?

A short written review of your Google profile: what's missing or out of date, how your reviews compare with the businesses you're up against in your suburb, and the three things we'd fix first. It's based only on what's publicly visible, so we don't need any logins. It's usually one page, and it arrives within two working days.

Couldn't I just use a review app?

Yes, and for some businesses that's the right call. The app sends the message. It doesn't fix your categories, rewrite your description, choose your photos, answer your reviews or tell you whether any of it worked. If you'd rather own the result than run the system, that's us.

Do you guarantee reviews or rankings?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. It usually means they're buying or filtering reviews. We guarantee the work we've agreed to, on the dates we've agreed to, and we show you the before and after.

Is asking customers for reviews even allowed?

Yes, as long as you ask everyone, don't offer anything in return, and don't tell people what to write. That's exactly how our system works. What isn't allowed, and what we won't do, is asking only happy customers, offering discounts for reviews, or hiding negative ones.

How much of my time does this take?

About an hour at the start: access to your Google profile, and a short call about your services and how you currently message customers. After that, roughly ten minutes a month to approve a couple of things. If you're being asked for more than that, something's wrong.

Do I need a website?

Not for the Sprint. A Google profile can bring in calls with no website at all. The Local Growth Plan does involve your website, and if you don't have one we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth having.

We're mostly ACC, insurance or referral work. Is this for us?

Maybe not. If Google isn't how new customers find you, we won't pretend otherwise. The free check shows how visible you and your competitors are on Google, and you can judge whether that matters for your business.

Do you run ads or social media?

No. Google Ads and social media are their own skills. If we think ads would help, we'll say so and tell you who to talk to.

What's the contract?

The Sprint is three months, paid monthly or up front. Keep is month to month. The Local Growth Plan has a three-month minimum, then it's month to month with 30 days' notice. Everything is agreed in writing before any money changes hands.

Who actually does the work?

Seb. As the business grows there'll be help with routine tasks like posting and monitoring, but the audit, the review system and every report stay with him, and you'll always be told who's doing what.

Find out where you stand. It's free, and it's specific.

Two working days. A short written check of your Google profile against your suburb's competition. Then it's your call.

Or email seb@droppedpin.co.nz if you'd rather just ask a question.
